The Win in the 21st Century startup competition was founded last year as an innovative way to match cutting-edge technology concepts with venture capital and start-up support in China. This year, hundreds of North American entrepreneurs are competing in the 21st Century challenge for the chance to build their start-ups. Last year, 40 projects were selected out of 186 and have since been launched at both Silicon Valley and at some of China’s most innovative technology centers, including like Suzhou, Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, Yixing, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Zhongguancun. The competition, which began in September, with events in Seattle, Austin, Los Angeles, Houston, Boston and Toronto, will wrap up in Silicon Valley in January.

The final Silicon Valley event will gather the entrepreneurs and investors who comprise the fast-growing network of U.S.-Chinese venture community. The competition this year is expected to attract 300 startup teams and 2,000 high-tech professionals. Potential partners from more than 20 high-tech parks in China, as well as numerous angel investors, venture capitalists and private equity firms will participate.

The competition and forum are designed to break new ground in global markets and cooperation. It is organized by UCAHP (US-China Association of High-level Professionals), TEEC ( Tsinghua Entrepreneur & Executive Club)/TEEC Angel Fund, as well as HYSTA (Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association) and other Silicon Valley professional networks.

The full day event will be held in Santa Clara Convention center on January 8th, 2012. Fast growing startup CEO/entrepreneurs and leading VCs from both China and SV will speak or join panel discussions. Competition winners will receive cash awards and investment commitments and join sponsored trips to China.
